The 14 EU countries with nuclear power plants agreed last May to carry out the stress tests in response to Japan‘s Fukushima nuclear accident last March.
The peer review is the last stage in the EU stress tests before the European Commission presents a final report on the whole process to EU leaders in June.
Philippe Jamet, chairman of the peer review board, said late Tuesday.
“The peer review has clear terms of reference,” Jamet told a public meeting on the stress tests peer review process in Brussels. “We have been told to deliver a draft report to Ensreg on April 25.” ”I cannot imagine that it will stop there,” he added. “We are at the first step of inventing a new component of safety assessments.”
