IN the radioactive ghost town of Iitate, about 100 people have been left behind amid the nuclear fallout from last March’s earthquake and tsunami. Most are suffering Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. While they are just 40km from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant, and their nursing home was showered with fallout after the disaster, most are probably blissfully unaware of their predicament.

  1. LEAVING the 100 dementia victims behind is a horrific violation of the fundamental trust placed in the “nursing care facility” who is charged with the responsibility to protect its residents.
Just because these 100 souls are “blissfully unaware” doesn’t mean that they don’t need to be protected.
