Meet the US Embassy worker who transmitted of critical SPEEDI data from Japan to US

Emmett 'Jerome' Ryan

Jerome Ryan is a Second Secretary in the Political Section of U.S. Embassy Tokyo. He has been a member of the Foreign Service since 2004. His regional specialization is East Asia where he has served in Osaka, Seoul and Tokyo, covering political matters.

Not only was the United States receiving SPEEDI updates weeks before they would be publicly released, the U.S. Embassy, (or maybe  Embarassy), was transmitting rushed emails to their State-side counterparts multiple times a day, crammed with critical SPEEDI radiation dose maps.  It must’ve been ‘exciting’ times to be working at the Embassy to say the least.
