Special public meeting in South Haven for Palisades Nuclear Power Plant

The NRC is hosting a public meeting tonight in South Haven to discuss the safety of Palisades nuclear power plant at the Beach Haven Event Center in South Haven at 6 PM tonight. Officials want to hear from residents living near the Palisades plant in Covert, as the agency downgraded the facility’s rating following a couple of shutdowns last year.

Plant operators say that the issues that led to the shutdowns, as well as other safety concerns, are being addressed. The downgrade will lead to more NRC inspections of the complex during 2012.
