NHK Survey shows most of Japanese areas near nuclear power plants concerned about restart

An NHK survey has found that nearly 80 percent of municipalities hosting or located near nuclear power plants are wary about resuming operations at reactors that are offline for regular inspections.

Will approve resumption of nuclear operations-  2%
Will never allow resumption-  4%
May eventually approve resumption of nuclear reactors-  12%
Wary about restarting nuclear reactors-  75%

Want satisfactory investigation into accident at Fukushima Daiichi -  63%
Want the government to address local residents concerns-  59%
Want new nuclear safety regulations-  58%
Believe stress tests are an appropriate determining factor for restart-  17%
