German utility RWE permanently shelves interest in building any new nuclear plants due to risk

Peter Terium, who will take over as CEO of RWE AG, Germany’s second largest utility by market value in July, said last week the company’s decision not to build new nuclear reactors is permanent and due to high financial risk.

“The financial risk associated with the construction of nuclear power plants is no longer acceptable and is unreasonable for our shareholders,” said Terium.
