The industry ministry’s Nuclear and Industry Safety Agency showed experts Wednesday a draft plan based on the power utility’s assessment, which the agency said was carried out “largely in a proper manner” and “came to an appropriate conclusion.”
Though the government has introduced an amendment bill to the nuclear reactor regulation law to limit reactors’ working life to 40 years, the Mihama unit can be operational for 10 more years under the current law if the agency gives the go-ahead.
