The city of Nagasaki observed the 67th anniversary of the 1945 US atomic bombing on Thursday.

“We cannot postpone the issue of the disposal of the vast amount of nuclear waste generated from operating nuclear power plants,” Nagasaki Mayor Tomihisa Taue said.  The mayor said it’s essential to ban not only the use of nuclear weapons but everything from their development to their deployment to ensure that Nagasaki is the last city to suffer from a nuclear attack.
