Estimates by the Nuclear Regulation Authority in Japan have found that a nuclear disaster at nuclear power stations could create radiation levels over 100 mSv/hr in the first week over 30 kilometers away from the site.
These findings could lead local governments to require the expansion of the safety zones around nuclear facilities.
