Status of iron frame construction for the reactor building cover of Unit 1 at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station Pictured August 10th, 2011 photo by TEPCO.

The cover is installed to prevent the diffusion of radioactive materials from the reactor, spent fuel pool, rubble and dust, etc and prevent rain water from entering the building.

The installment of the cover is a temporary emergency measure, until a midterm measure is initiated.
