China’s Post-Fukushima Nuclear Vision

The New York Times reported on Monday that China, unlike many industrialized nations, will continue its rapid development of nuclear power plants. Germany, Italy, France and Japan are among the nations that recently have halted, or at least slowed, their nuclear power plant development in wake of the accident at Fukushima Daiichi. However, many of these nations face little if any increase in their demand for energy. In 2010, the demand for electricity in China rose by more than 14%.
