TEPCO finds defect in ALPS water treatment system at Fukushima Daiichi

Overview of the Advanced Liquid Processing System - ALPS - Fukushima Daiichi

According to Tokyo Electric, the operator of the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, the most recent breakdown of the Advanced Liquid Processing System (ALPS) is due to a chipped resin filter.

The utility found some 6 centimeters of resin material separating radioactive and processed water had broken off, allowing radioactive materials to pass through.

According to NHK there is no prospective date for bringing the system into full operation.
